Tell the CBC that people are angry
January 8, 2010
Dear warriors….
The CBC’s political panel last night bent over backwards to give the impression that Canadian don’t care much about Harper’s assault on democracy.
One of the guests, Bruce Andersen, was a pollster from a company, Harris-Decima, who – wait for it – hasn’t done any polling on the issue. Instead of inviting someone from Ekos – whose polling revealed today that a large percentage – 67% - of people were aware of the issue, and two thirds of those were opposed to the suspension of Parliament. The questions asked of 1,744 respondents was:
“The elected House of Parliament is the proper place to conduct the business of the nation and suspending Parliament is antidemocratic.”
(see the story here)
Write to the CBC and let them know that you care about it and that according to other major media – including the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star, have evidence that people are angry.
The panel also poo-poohed the over 100,000 names now on the Facebook petition.
Watch the panel (25 minutes into the tape) here.
Send a short, pithy email to the nation and Peter Mansbridge at: national@cbc.ca
Use any or all of the above points:
- Why did they not invite Ekos on to the show – they actually did a poll?
- How many thousands of people have to express their anger to warrant a declaration of being concerned
- How many Parliamentary issues are 67% of the population aware of – especially during a holiday season?
- Express your own anger at this attack on democracy
