NEW AND DEPARTING STAFF
Welcome to Lyn Gorman who started as the new Prairies Regional Organizer on March 15. She will be setting up a new office in Edmonton and contact coordinates will be available shortly on the web site. We also welcome Liz Garrison, the new Administrative Assistant in the Ontario Office, and Ariel Troster, who will be with us to June as a Project Organizer. Our best wishes go to staff who have recently moved on to new adventures. The Council’s former Prairies Regional Organizer Loretta Gerlach is now working with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses. Sharon Ho, the former Administrative Assistant in the Ontario Regional Office, has decided to devote herself full-time to her university studies. Dagan Harding, the former AA in the Prairies office, has left to tour with his band Despistado. And Angela Giles, the AA in the Maritimes Office, will be on leave of absence to have her first child.
NEW CHAPTER ACTIVISTS
The “check-off” box on the new membership brochure that asks new members if they would like to join a chapter has been producing good results. Those names are being gathered and sent to the respective chapters in a timely manner.
AGM RESOLUTION FOLLOW-UP
At the last Annual General Meeting in Vancouver, a resolution was passed recommending that chapters have greater input into the overall work of the Council. Consequently, all of the regional meetings with chapters will now be held before the next annual operational plan goes to the Board of Directors in June.
FEDERAL ELECTION
The federal election is on everyone’s mind. The Council’s campaigners and organizers and communications staff have been discussing, debating and planning a strategy that will be effective and achievable in conjunction with the chapters. Click here to get a copy of “The Canada We Want”.
The Council of Canadians appreciates the energy and dedication of its chapter activists. If you would like to be contacted by your local chapter of The Council of Canadians, call us at 1 800 387-7177.
You can click here to find out more about the chapters in your region.
Note: Due to the new federal privacy legislation, the listings of chapter contacts that you may be used to seeing on this page will no longer be included. As noted above, call your regional organizer for information on the chapter nearest you.
