Council of Canadians to challenge Canada’s position at UN advisory committee
Anil Naidoo of the Council of Canadians’ Blue Planet Project will be in Berlin next week at the invitation of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to serve on an expert panel advising her on human rights obligations related to water. This process will culminate in a UN report, which is expected to further isolate Canada as the only state to officially oppose the right to water.

As project organizer for Council of Canadians’ Blue Planet Project, Anil Naidoo has played a leading role in coordinating the global water justice movement comprised of social justice groups and civil society organizations from around the world. He is the only Canadian on Louise Arbour’s advisory panel on water and sanitation.
