Canada’s role in Afghanistan: New report reveals dangerous trend
On Friday, October 27, 2006, the Council of Canadians will launch “Marching Orders; how Canada abandoned peacekeeping and why the UN needs us now more than ever,” an urgent new report shedding light on the alarming consequences of Canada’s role in Afghanistan.
WHAT:
At a press conference in Charlottetown, Steven Staples, author of the report, will join John Urquhart, executive director of the Council of Canadians, to expose the circumstances around Canada’s participation in the U.S.-led War on Terror as well as the immediate and long-term impacts on our role as peacekeepers.
WHO:
John Urquhart is the executive director at the Council of Canadians, Canada’s largest citizens’ advocacy organization with chapters and members across the country.
Steven Staples is a defence analyst and writer based in Ottawa. He is the author of the newly released Missile Defence: Round One.
