U.S. Military Mom appeals to Canadians for support

Cindy Sheehan, anti-war activist and mother of an American soldier who was killed in Iraq, will be addressing Canadians at a press conference in Ottawa. She joins the War Resisters Support Campaign and the Council of Canadians in demanding that the federal government make a provision allowing U.S. soldiers resisting war in Iraq to be granted sanctuary in Canada. |

Cindy Sheehan is a founding member of Gold Star Families for Peace and a leading figure of the anti-war movement in the United States. Her son, Specialist Casey Sheehan, was killed in Iraq in April 2004. Michelle Robidoux is an Organizer with the War Resisters Support Campaign. The Campaign provides material support for U.S. War resisters seeking asylum in Canada, as well as lobbying the Canadian government to make a provision to allow resisters to stay in this country. Victoria Gibb-Carsley is the Director of Campaigns and Communications at the Council of Canadians, Canada’s largest citizens’ advocacy organization. |
