Council of Canadians in Charlottetown to urge doctors to support medicare
WHAT:
Maude Barlow and the Council of Canadians will be in Charlottetown August 20 to 23, during the Canadian Medical Association annual meeting, to demand that doctors take a stance against privatization of the health care system. The citizens’ advocacy organization will be joined by allies from the Canadian Health Coalition, the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions and Canadian Doctors for Medicare as they hold public events, provide educational material to doctors and speak to the media at this crucial meeting.

WHO:
Maude Barlow is the chairperson of the Council of Canadians and author of 15 books including Profit is Not the Cure, an examination of the history of medicare in Canada, and her most recent bestseller on Canada-U.S. relations, Too Close for Comfort; Canada’s Future within Fortress North America.
Guy Caron is the health care campaigner at the Council of Canadians.
