Canada’s Oil: Feed America’s Addiction or Save the Environment?
Description
Participants will explore key energy and environmental issues facing Canadians today, such as:
- SPP plans for further U.S. takeover of Canada’s energy resources
- NAFTA’s proportionality requirement to export Canadian oil and natural gas
- Security of supply for eastern Canadians
- Foreign ownership of Canada's oil and gas industry
- Canada’s oil and the U.S/ military
- Tarsands, emissions and the environment
- Lack of future processing in Canada
- The Keystone pipeline
- Job loss in the energy sector and the high Canadian dollar
- Democratic control and First Nations ownership

Gordon Laxer, Director and Cofounder of the Parkland Institute. Laxer is a political economist writing on energy issues.
