Federal Government Fails Canadians on Public Health Care
November 28, 2003
On November 28, 2002, the Romanow Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada made 47 recommendations to protect and enhance public health care in Canada. One year later, the Council of Canadians has issued a 'Report Card' on the federal Liberal government's progress on the implementation of these recommendations.
The 'Report Card' demonstrates that the federal government has failed the Canadian public. The Liberal government has not adequately funded public health care in Canada, nor have they protected it from privatization and the threat of international trade agreements.

Anniversary of the Romanow Report

A year later, Canadians are left to wonder what happened. After what many considered to be a wonderful exercise in democratic participation, a handful of the demands they made to their governments through the Romanow Report has been implemented.
