GE-Free PEI and Percy Schmeiser
In 2003, world-renowned anti-GE activist and Saskatchewan farmer Percy Schmeiser met with Premier Binns. After the meeting, Premier Binns was convinced that PEI must review the impact of genetic engineering on the people and environment of the Island.

Monsanto vs Percy Schmeiser
Percy Schmeiser fought Monsanto’s claims that he had violated their patent on GE canola when the company’s seed blew into his field from a passing truck. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada.
