Premier Binns has gone out on a ledge for Islanders and for Canadians in our fight for safe food. His motion initiated the Committee discussion to make PEI GE-Free.
But this is a tough fight, and Premier Binns is facing strong opposition from the biotech industry. Big companies like Monsanto want to continue to control and profit from Canada's food supply. The pressure on Premier Binns to cave on his brave statement must be overwhelming.
It's important that Premier Binns knows that all Canadians and people around the world appreciate his hard work to ensure safe, sustainable food in PEI and that his province is setting an example for all other Canadian provinces and for the federal government.
