Action Link: A Guide for Council Activists
Welcome from Maude
Dear Friends:
We all realize that building a better Canada requires vision. In order to move beyond simply reacting to the corporate agenda and government cuts, we need to have a picture in our minds' eye of the type of community and country in which we want to live.
The Council of Canadians' Citizens' Agenda provides such a picture. It provides a vision of a democratically accountable economy and society. A summary of the Citizens' Agenda follows on the next few pages. I hope you'll find it inspiring.
Of course, having a vision is not enough. We don't just want to dream -- we need to act. To that end, we've prepared this ActionLink activists' guide for Council members, with suggestions and tips on how to organize an effective Council chapter and effective campaigns. This kit is meant to help you to turn the vision of a Citizens' Agenda into a reality.
Throughout the guide, we suggest that the more input you get from others, the better. The same holds true for this resource. Please tell us what you like and don't like about it. Tell us what works and what doesn't and what we've forgotten. Your comments can only help us to improve.
Your work on Council campaigns, as an individual or as part of a group, means that you are joining with other Council members and allies throughout the country in fighting for building a better country and society. Thank you for your energy and commitment. Together we can realize our vision.
Respectfully yours,

Maude Barlow,
National Chairperson
