ACTION ALERT: Let Medea & Ann into Canada on Thursday!
October 22, 2007
A CODEPINK media release issued today states that Medea Benjamin and Ann Wright, "will try again to enter Canada on Thursday, October 25, at the invitation of Canadian Members of Parliament."
CODEPINK has been urging US and Canadian supporters to sign a petition that calls, "on the Canadian government to reverse its policy and extend a warm welcome to U.S. peacemakers and other social activists who use the time-honored tradition of engaging in civil disobedience as a way to change unjust policies."

This initiative came after Medea Benjamin, founder of the anti-war women’s group CODEPINK, and retired Army colonel Ann Wright were denied entry into Canada on October 3. They were told that they could not cross the border into Canada because their names appeared on an FBI database that Canadian border agents use to screen visitors.
A key initiative of the Security and Prosperity Partnership's 'security agenda' is to, "Work to ensure compatibility of systems to share data on high-risk travellers and… to provide for risk management decisions on travellers destined to or transiting North America."
Join Maude Barlow, Willie Nelson, Alice Walker, Noam Chomsky, Walden Bello and others and sign this petition today to assist Medea and Ann in their effort to cross the border this coming Thursday. The petition has now been signed by 14,663 people.
