ACTION ALERT UPDATE: Maher Arar opposes the no-fly list
September 5, 2007
As reported in today's Globe and Mail, "Maher Arar...says Canada should rethink its new "no-fly" program, which bans as many as 2,000 people from boarding airplanes."
"It's safe to assume that most of those names [on the no-fly list] are names of people who have Muslim background. What criteria they use to place a person on this watch list is unknown to us," Mr. Arar said. "I don't think frankly that the Canadian government has consulted the public enough about this issue and I think we need to go back to the table and think about whether the no-fly list is the best way to do it or not."
To send your letter opposing the no-fly list to the prime minister, please respond to the Council of Canadians' ACTION ALERT: Oppose the no-fly list on our website.
