The Council of Canadians' 21st Annual General Meeting
October 27-29, 2006
The Rodd Charlottetown Hotel
Charlottetown, PEI
Agenda
INTEGRATE THIS!
CHARTING A BETTER COURSE FOR CANADA-U.S. RELATIONS
Right now, corporate leaders, right-wing think tanks and governments are taking part in cross-border working groups to integrate Canadian and U.S. policies. They’re doing this through the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, which was agreed on by the leaders of Canada, Mexico and the U.S. in 2005. It’s called “deep integration”. No civil society groups are included in these meetings. No public debate or vote in the House of Commons has taken place. It’s time for Canadians to respond.
At this year’s AGM we will be exploring ways to fight deep integration and promote progressive policies that we want the federal government to enact. We believe that Canadians and the world are best served by an independent Canada in which the public interest trumps corporate profits.
Join us in challenging the federal government to Integrate This! in Canada’s future:
- strong social programs and public services
- independent foreign and trade policies
- protection of our water, energy and natural resources
