Tailing Ponds Protest - Oct. 9, 2008
This week, we joined with Mining Watch Canada to question Environment Minister John Baird’s commitment to turn Canadian lakes into toxic dumpsites for mining companies. We attended an all-candidates forum in Minister Baird’s riding and put him on the hot seat.

Peterborough all candidates meeting - Sept. 29, 2008
As reported in the Peterborough Examiner, "Four of the five federal Peterborough riding candidates running in the Oct. 14 election battled Monday night in their third debate of the day"

Surrey/Langley/White Rock Candidates Forum - Sept. 28, 2008
As reported in the Peace Arch News, "Afghanistan, autism and air space over Ocean Park were included in the subjects served up to attendees at the first all-candidates meeting for the federal South Surrey-White Rock-Cloverdale riding Sunday. But after incumbent Russ Hiebert declined to attend – telling the Peace Arch News last week the Council of Canadians hosts are “anti-Conservative activists” – the most common dish was heard, and seen in “Where’s Russ?” signs posted in and out of the Ocean Park Community Hall venue."

Edmonton Protest - Sept. 25, 2008
“I was able to sneak into the convention to hand out some our the c of c voter questions. [...] another man came up and said he would take a package. To my chagrin however, he looked to the ever growing crowd that was gathering around me and said 'Know thy self' and then pointing at me and said 'Know thy enemy' finishing it off by quoting Sun Tzu. Regardless more people were interested in our voter's info guides and I ended up passing them all out before I quickly retreated to my friends on the outside.” - Sheila Muxlow writing of her experience, shared by members of the Edmonton chapter, and other local and national organizations.

London Protest - Sept. 15, 2008
As reported in the Regina Leader Post, "About 800 supporters attended the dinner-hour rally at a conference centre in downtown London, and about 100 people gathered outside for a protest. About 50 protesters banged drums, blew on whistles and chanted anti-war slogans [ .] Other protesters carried banners from the Council of Canadians..."
